Qurbani
Qurbani
Introduction
During times of religious celebration, many families are left out because they cannot afford the traditional meat sacrifice. Our project manages the ethical sourcing, sacrifice, and distribution of livestock, ensuring that the poorest members of the community can celebrate with dignity and nutrition.
Challenge
Coordinating the logistics of sourcing healthy livestock and managing the distribution within a tight three-day window is a massive operational undertaking. Maintaining strict hygiene standards and cold-chain storage in remote areas is also a significant hurdle.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said regarding the sacrifice (Qurbani): "For every hair of the sacrificial animal, there is a reward for you." Sunan Ibn Majah
Problem
For many families in poverty-stricken regions, meat is a luxury they might only taste once a year. This lack of animal protein contributes to widespread anemia and nutritional deficiencies. Furthermore, during festive seasons, the disparity between those who can afford to celebrate and those who cannot can deepen the sense of social isolation and despair among the poor.
Potential Solutions
Our Sacrifices Project works with local farmers to source healthy animals, which in turn supports the local rural economy. We use a streamlined distribution network of refrigerated trucks and community centers to ensure the meat reaches families while it is still fresh. This project not only provides a high-protein meal but also fosters a sense of global solidarity and shared community during the holidays.
